Colmar Tropicale, Berjaya Hills Resort is a unique French-themed resort located near the lush greenery of Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, Malaysia that was opened in the early 2000s.
Our family visited Bukit Tinggi, Pahang for a short overnight stay. Here is our Colmar Tropicale, Berjaya Hills Resort review which we would like to share with you.
This French village in Malaysia was inspired by the 16th-century town of Colmar in Alsace France and replicated to bring European architecture and ambiance to Southeast Asia by celebrating French culture through its buildings and cobblestone walkways.

What We Love About Colmar Tropicale in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang
- France Village Atmosphere
There is a lovely French ambiance at Colmar Tropicale in Malaysia. The architecture is a replica of the original Colmar town featuring timber-framed buildings, colourful facades and narrow cobblestone walkways. Throughout the village, French music is played. Street performers and themed decorations add to the charm, great for Instagrammers for taking picturesque photos akin to being in France itself.
- Free Entry To The Rabbit Farm And Japanese Garden
Another reason is the added value of the Colmar Tropicale entry ticket which includes free admission to Rabbit Farm and the Japanese Garden, just show your ticket to the staff in charge. This free admission applies to the hotel guests at Colmar Tropicale too.
- Cooling Weather
As the resort is located in Bukit Tinggi, it has a naturally cool climate where the temperature is around 18°C and 25°C, the cool air makes for nice leisurely walks through the village. It is a good escape from the sweltering heat during the hotter Malaysian months.
- Quick Getaway From The City
Colmar Tropicale is only a 45-minute to 1-hour drive from Klang Valley using Karak Highway, great for a spontaneous day trip or a short overnight stay. What To Take Note Of When Visiting Colmar Tropicale, Berjaya Hills
- Convenient Store
There is a small 7-Eleven here, although it is not open 24 hours and prices tend to be higher than average. Therefore, it may be a good idea to bring along your own snacks, drinks, and toiletries from home or purchase them in town before heading up the hills.
- Beware of Monkeys
Avoid feeding the wild roaming monkeys. Do close the windows in your rooms to avoid the monkeys from entering. Secure your belongings including your bag, mobile phone and spectacles.
- Check Out Kg Bukit Tinggi And Bentong
Our family went to Fantasy Valley Seafood Restaurant in Kampung Bukit Tinggi for an early dinner and enjoyed the steam river Patin fish, wild boar curry and stir fry vegetables.
We dropped by Bentong on the way up, at Lemang To’ki to savour their famous lemang and beef rendang for tea time.
What We Didn’t Like About Colmar Tropicale, Berjaya Hills
- Lack of Maintenance
Many areas at Colmar Tropicale, Berjaya Hills show signs of aging including some peeling paint on the walls, and outdated interiors. We hope that the management can look into improving this Malaysian French resort because it is indeed a nice place to visit.
- Pricey and Underwhelming Food
The food quality at Colmar Tropicale itself can be underwhelming. We read that many people thought that several restaurants here served food that didn’t meet their expectations in terms of taste or presentation. Prices for F&B in Colmar Tropicale are higher than average. While it’s normal for resort dining to be a bit pricier, we don’t think that it is value for money.
Is Bukit Tinggi, Pahang Worth Visiting?
Yes, we think Bukit Tinggi, Pahang is definitely worth a visit, especially if it is your first time going, for a short overnight stay or a day trip if you are looking for a quick escape from the city into cooler mountain air and picturesque surroundings.
